There's something rather appealing about making photographic developer from things you might find in the kitchen. Caffenol uses instant coffee, washing soda and vitamin C to develop film—and, surprisingly, it actually works rather well!
I've been experimenting with Caffenol as another way of exploring black and white film. The results have their own character, and the process is as interesting as the finished photographs. It's certainly not about achieving perfect, predictable results; it's about experimenting, seeing what happens, and often being pleasantly surprised.
